NATURE
At Magnitude Global Finance (MGF) we provide strategic and investment advisory services to mobilize capital for nature in emerging markets. Our expertise spans carbon markets, results-based payments and other payments for ecosystem services (PES),climate-smart agriculture, coastal resilience, blue economy, and conservation finance. Our team’s in-depth knowledge of nature-based solutions (NbS), natural capital, and sustainable finance, combined with a strong network of public and private sector partners, enables us to design and implement financial strategies that drive measurable climate, environmental, and social impacts. Our team has worked with a wide range of partners, including helping the government of Papua New Guinea access results-based payments for forest conservation from the Green Climate Fund, smallholder farmers to finance adoption of agroforestry techniques in Uganda, and Indigenous and traditional communities in Colombia to negotiate voluntary carbon markets transactions. ENERGY
Our team offers specialized expertise in energy finance, with a focus on assessing and structuring investments in renewable energy. Our team has led the procurement, evaluation, negotiation, and financing of numerous renewable energy programs with the support of clients including the Asian Development Bank, the US State Department, ING Capital, Societe Generale, West LB, Union Bank, MetLife, CIBC, Siemens Financial, and Investec. MGF experts led the commercial tender and financing of the Tonga Renewable Energy Project. Once completed, the project will transform the Tonga power grid to 70% renewable energy. Our team has also carried out extensive work in geothermal energy, advising on PPA negotiations in Ethiopia, Indonesia, Dominica, and Nevis. MGF team members were instrumental in establishing both the US and UK strategies for supporting geothermal in East Africa through Power Africa and the East Africa Geothermal Energy Facility (EAGER). Our team has also worked in the off-grid space, supporting the structuring of solar securitizations and a data-driven credit assessment mechanism for lending to households in west Africa. Our team combines deep sectoral knowledge with practical experience in complex transactions, ensuring that renewable energy projects are financially viable, technically sound, and aligned with sustainable development objectives.
ADAPTATION & RESILIENCE
We deliver deep expertise in adaptation and resilience (A&R) finance, with a proven track record of sourcing, conducting due diligence on, and structuring blended finance transactions for A&R-focused investment vehicles and projects. Our experience includes designing a bond instrument for resilient infrastructure in Southern Africa and working on urban flood resilience in informal neighborhoods. MGF managed the Adaptation Finance Window, a joint collaboration of USAID and IMCA, and has supported clients in developing, market testing, and applying robust frameworks for screening and selecting high-impact A&R investments. Critically, our team brings field experience and local networks needed to bridge the gap between international investors and local communities, ensuring that adaptation impacts are not just theoretical but tangible and meaningful, enhancing resilience on the ground.
BLENDED FINANCE
MGF brings extensive expertise in designing and structuring blended finance transactions that leverage concessional finance instruments, such as guarantees and first-loss, to de-risk and catalyze private sector investment in emerging markets and developing economies. Our experience includes serving as capital structuring and blended finance advisors to the Global Innovation Lab for Climate Finance, and developing a primer, landscape analysis, and roadmap for implementing blended finance to mitigate disaster risk for USAID. MGF has partnered with leading development finance institutions to design and implement solutions that de-risk investments and mobilize private capital, ensuring that financial flows align with sustainable development goals. Our team’s deep knowledge of local markets and strong relationships with stakeholders allow us to tailor solutions that are not only financially viable but also deliver measurable social and environmental impact.
