Project Overview

MGF worked with BHA personnel to strengthen their understanding of blended finance and its potential to support humanitarian assistance, disaster risk reduction, and resilience programming. MGF developed a primer for blended finance in the humanitarian context, and analyzed global blended finance structures and their applicability to humanitarian settings with a focus on financing approaches that could strengthen preparedness, resilience, and access to capital before and after shocks.

The work covered instruments including parametric insurance, guarantees, concessional and blended lending, first-loss capital, results-based financing, and resilience infrastructure financing. MGF translated this analysis into practical tools and recommendations designed for humanitarian practitioners.
