Project Overview

MGF helps organizations navigate the Green Climate Fund (GCF), from first engagement through to funded projects. We have supported GCF accreditation under the revised framework for a range of clients, from large international NGOs to international asset managers, guiding them through the initial screening through to full application and accreditation. On the proposal side, we have supported pipeline development for adaptation and mitigation projects, including concept note development, drafting climate rationales, and preparing full funding proposals. 

As a GCF Accredited Observer organization, MGF also follows GCF governance closely and has advised clients on engaging effectively with the GCF Board and Secretariat. Together, these services give clients a single partner to build their GCF eligibility, develop competitive projects, and engage with the Fund strategically. 

Our Work

• GCF Accreditation. Reviewed and aligned institutional policies and documentation with the GCF’s Revised Accreditation Framework, working with clients’ legal, risk, compliance, and program teams to update policies, compile more than 185+ required pieces of evidence, complete accreditation application packages, and advise on questions from the panel.  
• GCF Proposal Development. Mapped stakeholders, developed climate rationales, and worked with local stakeholders and consultants to shape project design and theory of change, developing GCF proposals for adaptation and mitigation projects. 
• GCF Strategic Engagement Advisory. Guided clients on GCF outreach and Board engagement and aligned internal policies, operations, and funding structures with GCF requirements, developing engagement strategies and thought leadership to raise their profile with the Fund.
